High Voltage Fuse Fault – Code P3005 indicates a problem with the high voltage system fuse in a hybrid or electric vehicle, which protects the traction battery and inverter from current overload.

OBD-II (EN): High Voltage Fuse Circuit Fault

Code P3005 signals a problem with the high voltage fuse in a hybrid or electric vehicle – a critical component protecting the traction battery and inverter from damage. The cause could be a blown fuse, a short circuit in the HV circuit, or a battery module fault. Due to the high operating voltages (200–650 V), diagnosis and repair of this code require a visit to an authorized hybrid service center.

Symptoms

- Check Engine Light (MIL) or hybrid powertrain warning light on the dashboard - Vehicle may enter limp mode with reduced power - Inability to start the vehicle or sudden shutdown of the hybrid drive - Warning message about the hybrid/electric system on the display - In some cases, failure to charge the traction battery

Possible causes

- Blown or damaged high voltage (HV) fuse due to current overload - Short circuit in the inverter, electric motor, or traction battery circuit - Damage to high voltage circuit wiring or connectors (corrosion, chafing, loose connections) - Fault in the high voltage battery pack module - Failure of the electric motor controller (MCM/inverter ECU) generating overvoltage
