P2800
WysokiTransmission Range Sensor B – Circuit Range/Performance (PRNDL Input). The controller detected an incorrect signal from the gear selector position sensor.
OBD-II (EN): Gear Shift Range Sensor B Circuit Range/Performance
Code P2800 signals a problem with the transmission range sensor B (PRNDL circuit), responsible for transmitting information about the current gear selector position to the controller. The most common causes are a faulty sensor, corrosion of the electrical connector, or incorrect adjustment of the lever mechanism. Due to the risk of unpredictable transmission behavior, prompt diagnosis at a workshop is recommended.
Symptoms
Unexpected gear changes or lock-up in one gear; difficulty starting the engine or sudden stalling; Check Engine Light (MIL) on; transmission may enter limp mode; missing or incorrect PRNDL lever position indication on the dashboard.
Possible causes
• Faulty or worn transmission range sensor B • Incorrect adjustment or misalignment of the gear shift lever linkage with the sensor • Damage to the sensor wiring harness or electrical connector (chafing, corrosion, moisture) • Short or open circuit in the PRNDL signal circuit between the sensor and the transmission control module (TCM) • Faulty transmission control module (TCM) – less common

Does code P2800 require professional diagnostics?
The code alone is not enough. To find the cause, you need to read live data, check freeze frame conditions, and compare with vehicle behavior. Book a diagnostic session.
