U1250 – SCP (J1850) Incorrect or missing Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) data.
OBD-II (EN): U1250 – SCP (J1850) Invalid or Missing Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Data
Code U1250 indicates a communication problem on the vehicle's network – the VIN identifier is missing or incorrect on the SCP bus. This can cause the check engine light to illuminate and problems starting the car. The causes are often damaged wiring, connector corrosion, or an incorrectly programmed control module – precise diagnosis at a workshop will quickly locate the fault.
The check engine light (MIL) is on. Problems starting the engine may occur, no communication with control modules (e.g., PCM, ABS, SRS), failures of electronic systems, and the inability to read the VIN with a diagnostic tool.
• Damaged, broken, or shorted SCP (J1850) bus wiring. • Corrosion or loose connections in the DLC connector and modules. • Damaged control module (PCM, BCM, IC) – especially after replacement without programming the VIN. • Incorrectly written or missing VIN in the module memory. • Manufacturing defects or voltage spikes in the electrical system.

The code alone is not enough. To find the cause, you need to read live data, check freeze frame conditions, and compare with vehicle behavior. Book a diagnostic session.
