Invalid Data Received from Body Control Module (BCM) via the CAN bus. The receiving module detected data inconsistent with the expected range or communication protocol.

OBD-II (EN): Invalid Data Received from Body Control Module (BCM) via CAN Bus

Code U0455 means that one of the vehicle's modules has received erroneous or invalid data from the Body Control Module (BCM) via the CAN network. The cause may be damage to the BCM itself, a problem with the communication bus wiring, or corrosion of electrical connectors. Due to the complexity of the vehicle's communication network, diagnostics require specialized equipment and technical knowledge.

Symptoms

Possible symptoms noticeable by the driver: random or non-functional body electrical functions (lighting, wipers, central locking, power windows), flashing or non-functional dashboard indicators, Check Engine light or communication network light on, intermittent loss of comfort and safety functions (e.g., anti-theft system, airbag module may report related errors), possible difficulty starting the vehicle if BCM is involved in engine authorization.

Possible causes

• Faulty or malfunctioning Body Control Module (BCM) – internal failure or software corruption • Open circuit, short circuit, or increased resistance on CAN-High / CAN-Low lines between BCM and other modules • Damaged or corroded BCM module electrical connector • CAN bus terminator failure (120 Ω resistor) causing data transmission errors • Electromagnetic interference or transient voltage spikes in the electrical system (e.g., after battery discharge or improper charger connection) • Software version conflicts after unsuccessful BCM firmware update
