OBD-II (EN): Lost Communication with ABS Control Module

Code U0315 indicates a loss of communication between the vehicle's main controller (ECU) and the ABS module – the ABS and ESP systems may stop working, directly affecting driving safety. The most common causes are a damaged CAN network wiring harness, corroded connectors, or a defect in the ABS controller itself. Due to safety concerns, immediate diagnosis at an authorized service center or workshop with a professional CAN scanner is recommended.

Symptoms

ABS and/or ESP light is on the dashboard. The ABS and ESC/ESP systems may be completely disabled. Possible deactivation of the Traction Control System (TCS). In some vehicles, a brake system error message may appear. The brake pedal may respond normally, but there is no ABS assistance during hard braking.

Possible causes

• Damaged or burnt CAN bus wiring harness between ECU and ABS module • Corrosion or loose connectors at the ABS module or CAN network nodes • Defect of the ABS control module itself (internal integrated circuit failure) • Open or short circuit in the CAN High / CAN Low line leading to the ABS controller • Blown fuse for the ABS module power supply or open ground circuit
