Code U0260 indicates a loss of communication with a control module on the vehicle's CAN network – most often related to the BSI/BCM module responsible for body electrical functions. The cause may be a damaged wiring harness, corroded connectors, or a faulty controller. Due to the complexity of multiplex network diagnostics, we recommend a visit to a workshop with professional diagnostic equipment.
Symptoms
The MIL (Check Engine) light illuminates on the dashboard. Random electrical failures may occur: non-functional lighting, locks, power windows, or other functions controlled by the BSI/BCM. The vehicle may enter limp mode with reduced engine power. Intermittent engine stalling or starting problems. No response from other systems dependent on CAN communication.
Possible causes
• Damage or break in the CAN bus wire (CAN High / CAN Low) • Corrosion or poor contact in the control module (BCM/BSI) electrical connector • Power or ground failure of the body control module • Faulty BCM/BSI module (internal controller failure) • Electromagnetic interference or short circuit in the multiplex network wiring harness • Damaged CAN bus terminating resistors (120 Ω at network ends)
