P2540
WysokiLow Fuel Pressure Sensor Circuit – Range/Performance. The engine control module (ECM) detected an incorrect signal from the low fuel pressure sensor in the fuel system.
OBD-II (EN): Fuel Low Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
Code P2540 signals a problem with the low fuel pressure sensor – the engine control module detected that the sensor signal is outside the acceptable range, preventing proper control of the pump and injectors. The most common culprits are a faulty sensor, wiring problems, or a fuel pump failure. Due to the impact on drivability, we recommend a quick diagnosis at a workshop using a scanner and pressure gauge.
Symptoms
The Check Engine Light is on the dashboard. Difficulty starting the engine or it stalling. Uneven engine operation and jerking while driving. Increased fuel consumption. Possible loss of engine power, especially under heavy load. The controller may enter limp mode.
Possible causes
• Faulty or defective low fuel pressure sensor (most common cause) • Wiring problems – chafing, corrosion, or an open circuit in the fuel pressure sensor circuit • Fuel pump failure delivering too low or unstable pressure • Clogged fuel filter restricting flow and pressure in the system • Contaminated fuel or air in the fuel system • Faulty fuel pressure regulator
Affected systems
Does code P2540 require professional diagnostics?
The code alone is not enough. To find the cause, you need to read live data, check freeze frame conditions, and compare with vehicle behavior. Book a diagnostic session.
