Hybrid Traction Battery Voltage Sensor E – Circuit Range/Performance. The controller has detected incorrect voltage readings from the high-voltage battery sensor E.

OBD-II (EN): Hybrid Battery Voltage Sensor E Circuit Range/Performance

Code P0B50 means a problem with voltage sensor E in the traction battery system of a hybrid or electric vehicle – the controller has detected readings outside the permissible range. The cause may be damaged sensor wiring, connector corrosion, or a battery management module fault. Due to the high voltage of the traction system (200–400 V+), diagnosis and repair should be entrusted to an authorized service center qualified to work on HV systems.

Symptoms

Hybrid system warning on the dashboard (battery icon or warning triangle); power limitation or fail-safe mode (limp mode); reduced energy regeneration during braking; possible inability to charge the traction battery; increased fuel consumption due to deactivation of electric assist; the car may not start in full EV mode.

Possible causes

• Faulty or defective voltage sensor E of the traction battery module (BMU/BMS) • Corrosion or poor contact on the voltage sensor wire connector • Damaged wiring (open circuit, short to ground or supply voltage) • Malfunction of the Battery Management Unit (BMU/BMS) – incorrect signal interpretation • Natural wear or imbalance of high-voltage battery cells causing out-of-calibration readings
