Wheel speed sensor circuit error (right rear) or incorrect stability control system signal. The ABS/ESC controller detected a fault in the sensor signal circuit.

OBD-II (EN): Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Code C0435 signals the detection of a fault in the right rear wheel speed sensor circuit or the stability control system (ABS/ESC). This could mean a damaged sensor, a broken wiring harness, or a worn tone wheel at the hub. The fault disables active safety systems – urgent diagnosis at an authorized workshop is recommended.

Symptoms

The ABS and/or ESP/ESC warning light illuminates on the dashboard. The ABS system may be completely disabled. No operation of the traction control function (ASR/TCS). Possible deactivation of the stability control system (ESP/ESC). In some vehicles, stiffer brake system operation during hard braking. No other visible symptoms during normal driving, but the vehicle's active safety is limited.

Possible causes

• Damaged or contaminated wheel speed sensor (right rear) – dirt, rust, mechanical damage • Open or short circuit in the wiring harness leading to the sensor – chafing, connector corrosion • Damaged tone wheel (ABS ring/sensor ring) – crack, wear, contamination with metal filings • Damaged ABS/ESC controller (EBCM module) – internal electronic fault • Excessive wheel hub bearing play causing an irregular sensor signal
